Business Presentations

It is always a great day when we are able to see hard work and dedication shine. This week, the English lll students and the culinary students presented their final business projects. In any student’s last year studying in Love Guatemala, they receive business classes. This prepares them for the future by learning skills to either someday open their own business, or be a leader in their workplace. It is valuable information for them to learn and it is wonderful for us as a ministry to know that they will step out of Love Guatemala with a complete and well rounded education.

The English students formed four different groups and were tasked with creating a business idea, complete with menus, budgets, and explanations about how their business started. The judges listened to their presentations and asked questions. All of the presentations were done in English so it not only tested the skills that they had been learning in business class, but also their English speaking and comprehension. They all did an excellent job and the improvement from their last presentations was impressive.

The Cooking School students had a little different type of presentation. They were tasked with creating and preparing a three course meal. They talked about how each dish was prepared, the ingredients they would need, and the general price breakdown of the dishes. They had to be prepared for, if one day they decide to open a restaurant, that they would know how to answer questions about the dishes they prepare. Their hard work really showed through in the taste of the food they made as well as the way they presented their dishes.

We are overjoyed at not only the projects that the students presented, but also to be able to witness the improvement of the students over the course of the year. They will do a wonderful job in whatever they decide to take on after graduation and we could not be more proud.
