Speech Therapy

Speech therapy is a newer program, but such a needed addition. Love Guatemala is broken down into three sections. One being vocational classes, the second, adult education, and third is holistic support. Speech therapy is part of the holistic side of things and we are so thankful for it.

There are many children in Magdalena and the surrounding area that have speech difficulties. The doctors recommend them doing to a therapist but it is very out of budget for the families. They feel hopeless because not only does it cause social difficulties for the kids, schools cannot offer them specialized care, so they are not able to study there. It becomes not only a burden on the parents, but the children feel rejected not being able to connect to the other kids.

With the program at Love Guatemala, the price is next to nothing and the children who so desperately need care are able to receive it. It is so wonderful to hear parents who had started to lose hope that their children would be able to communicate clearly, regain the hope when their kids start to receive therapy.

This year, we had some of our first graduates from the program. It was so beautiful to see their smiles knowing that they worked so hard to get there. Our speech therapist, Yesika, works so well to encourage each child to do their best and be able to one day graduate the program.

We are so happy to have had the opportunity to open the speech therapy program and we know God will continue to work in the lives of each and every child that is part of the program!
